Michael Phelps sports a "Fu Manchu" moustache for the Beijing Olympics as seen in the picture below. "I'm just messing around with it a little bit," Phelps said when asked about it.

A "fu manchu" is a full mustache that extends downward past the mouth and on either side of the chin. Often, the ends of the mustache will hang past the jaw line with pointed or tapered ends. Fu Manchus stereotypically appear on Chinese characters on film and tv.

I just hope the mustache doesn't take a millisecond off his swimming lap times.

Phelps is the man to watch out for in the Olympics. He won a record eight medals (six gold, two bronze) four years ago in Athens. He won a record seven gold medals at last year's World Championships. Yet those close to him say they've never seen him as serene as in the weeks leading up to Beijing.
