Ok, been thru this also recently.
As these days your photo comes printed in the passport unlike those old days when they used to affix the photo with gum. Hence, the new size 3.5 cm because i think they scan it and computer prints it.
To answer your question, at NY the correct size is 3.5x3.5 cm.
However, they are accepting 2x2's as well, but the downside is the computer cuts it to 3.5x3.5 cm hence showing ONLY your face without a little bit of neck or shoulder. This photo does not look good, i have seen this happen with the same guy that i mentioned in the above therad.
I took both 3.5x3.5 and 2x2, they didn't care, but i gave them 3.5x3.5 as it was stressed in the NY webpage.

I am really happy and glad that I joined IV. No other immigration site including murthy.com, immigration.com was able to provide the updates like IV did durig this diffcult time. Hats off to IV and all members.

at some point the visa numbers are going to be all used up. The lucky ones would get their GC by then and the others will have to wait for a few months.
Why worry over it? The line only gets shorter and shorter and everybody will get their turn sooner than later.
As long as they don't waste any visa numbers, there is no need for any worry. Even their random processing order does not bother me that much, because demand for EB2 will be less than supply next year. Its time for EB3 to fasten the seat belts....

Chanduv23 First - let me say I respect your outstanding and active contribution on this forum very much. Having said that, I'd say, you both conveniently missed the point in my post.
I am not arguing about who is ahead in the line to get the non-existent cake - please read my post once again and point it out to me where I said anything in such regard..
Frustration comes from the point that all the discussions take tone that all IV efforts are to help EB2 category alone. It is becoming frustrating for EB3s to keep reading posts and participating in actions when everyone keeps portraying IV effort as EB2 only effort.
I'd request you both to please read my post again.
All I have said is that message need to be made stronger that IV effort is for all EB community.
By responding with who's ahead in line type of comment you both are just ignoring the situation that already exists as of today on this forum wrt EB categories. I'd venture to say that if at all you're making that feel of eb3 left out even worse than it already it.

As far as the lawsuit is concerned, just like all the other IV efforts, I'd gladly participate in it.

So lets not fight EB2 war or EB3 war, lets all fight together for one cause and only one which is to, bring a change in this system.

I see that the above discussion keeps on going on about EB-2 only. Doesn't anyone at IV care about EB-3 I also . I am sure there are a few EB-3 I people at IV who are suffering from retrogression , myself included.

I was just thinking and then this came up on me . How about sending a poster along with the letter campaign. I can contribute atleast four posters. They do not have to be full size posters ..can be just A4 size pamphlets kinds. We can just print them in color printer and send them along with the letters. These posters may make it to the press also as they will be funny and spicy for news. Actually, we can send copy of our letters to press as well along with our posters. If we make about 10 such posters, we can send one random poster along with the letter.

I appreciate your enthusisam to respond to most of the negetive comments and thats a good thing. Try to contain yourself sometimes...otherwise people might just ignore you as another loud mouth.
ya, lets step-up a poll and have everyone vote, as if this is the US congress. And after voting leave it for someone else to work on this and other "brilliant" idea. There needs to be a reality check. This poll doesn't mean anything unless there are enough people to spend time and energy at every level. But ya, lets setup a poll and have everyone vote, it will give everyone a feel good factor that everyone contributed in the advocacy effort, how? by voting in the pool and not doing anything about how everyone votes.

Hi currently I am doing my Master's and i will graduate on 2th april 2008. My OPT starts from june 15th 2008 and ends on 14 june 2008.
I am planning to file H1 this year on april 1 2008. I have a letter from chair of graduate studies stating that i will complete all the requirements for masters and graduate at the end of april 2008. Will I qualify for master's quota? If not, if I apply in general quota is that a good Idea or If I skip my H1 this year what should I do.
Instead of Chair of graduate studies can I have letter from any other person in the University coz my chair refused to give me a letter stating that I completed all the requirements for masters.

How do you like if people from a certain country go to India to take all your jobs?
The catch is that you will first have to establish that you can't find an Indian to do that job. A very very hard task I would assume!

Even I was wondering same thing- Notice Date or Received Date. USCIS website says Received date is taken into account while looking at service centers processing times.
Here is exact line-
"IMPORTANT: If your receipt notice date is earlier then the processing date shown, we suggest you call our USCIS Customer Service Office at 1-800-375-5283 for assistance."
Of course, I personally wish that Notice Date takes precedence as it is not our fault that one file just kept on sitting and in saga of moving dates and PD, each day makes a difference.
Well, that may not be quite correct. Service centers claim that they process cases in order they receive them. Receive Date on the receipt is the official RD (the mail room receive date) by USCIS. It is not the date case was received by a center. In the above case, files were just waiting somewhere between Aug 17 and Oct 16. Texas center perhaps opened the case on Oct 16, entered it in the system and sent out a notice. Online status perhaps shows "...your case was received on Oct 16...". So, as far as Texas center is concerned they received the case on Oct. 16.
Thus, as curent processing times are at August 23, 2007, dwhuser case file is yet to be opened. Since file is not yet opened, no one yet knows his/her PD (it is nowhere other than on paper files). So the case waits - his/her PD may get current and pass. Of course, Aug 17 '07 to Oct 16, '07, was not dwhuser's fault, but it put him/her behind a lot of cases whose files were accepted/opened by a center in the meantime.
Why so? Because USCIS prime systems are not designed for huge volumes, or PD's so much in the waiting.

Thanks a lot to all members for being with us in this struggle. We have tasted our first big success this year. Credit goes to each and every IV member. We were all affected by the visa bulletin fiasco and this is our victory. This is a victory for all our members and we must rejoice.
IV had worked very hard and had been pushing for this in the background. Our flower campaign, rally and other advocacy efforts all came together and helped us at a crunch time. We thank members that sent flowers and also walked in the San Jose heat for 4 hours. All that really shows our commitment to this cause.
We are happy that our efforts are successful and IV has been able to make a difference. Please also know that during this effort, IV was extremely active and decision makers heard our voice. We cannot give out all the details but what IV members should know is that these efforts should make each one of us proud and what we can do if we have a firm resolve. We were also the first to break this news even before anyone else or media could, and continued to update our members as time passed.
