definitely a scam.
there's something to the saying " if its too good to be true, then it probably is."
my advice is......walk away.
i myself got ripped off by one of these deals.....selling a powerbook+23" cinema display.
don't make this mistake.

I know I'm bumping a slightly old post, but I'm in the exact same position as you! I really wanted to get Black to for gaming nostalgia, but I read online that they are planning on a 3D pokemon title, and that game won't work on the DSi. So, I think I've decided to just go and get a 3DS--
Nope. There have been no "official" rumours of a 3DS Pokemon game in the style of Black/White (and the other main series games). Of course the next one will be out on the 3DS. But there have been no rumours surfacing yet and it'll be at least 1 year until we see a new game, with the average being 3-4 years for a new title.
Of course there's always a kid on Youtube who says his uncle Jed works for Game Freak and knows all about the next game ;)

My mac's a 14" iBook that's been upgraded to 1 GB of RAM and 80 GB HD. I use Airport (so I experience the delayed connection that you've got post-wake) and there's nothing hooked up with Bluetooth.
I'm so confused as to where this problem could be originating...

i think you guys are overestimating how bad the lines will be. For the iPhone 4 launch, i got there at about 5 with the store opening at 8. I was within the first 200 or so as well. I highly doubt the iPad line will be as long as that of the iPhone, but I guess we'll see.

Has anyone been able to force an apple store to guarantee a Lion O/S upgrade for free with the purchase of a Macbook pro now?
You cannot force apple to do anything.
They have a policy and they adhere to that pretty well. I believe that if you purchase a mac within 2 weeks of the release date you can get a free upgrade.
You'll have to wait longer for a Mac to actually come with Lion preinstalled as apple will need to flush the supply chain of macs with 10.6

ok, so now I'm posting from win7 using ie so it's all ok.
When win7 started it paused for quite some time then said to restart to use new device just found.
So ntfs-3g changes the way the partition works even when uninstalled.
Won't go down that road again.:confused:

Interesting update, for those that care/may be wondering. As a test, I grabbed a 2 GB Ram stick from my laptop and placed it in one of the free slots on my iMac. Computer now reports 6 GB RAM installed, but the 2 x 2GB already installed now underclock to 1067. It seems that Ram will always run as fast as the slowest installed. Still, 6 GB @ 1067 has to be better than 4 GB @ 1333, right?

I'm interested in finding out how early some people will be going to wait outside the Apple store. I've never waited for a release on anything before, so this is all very new to me... haha.
I still remember walking through a mall the day the iPhone was released and just being in awe at the lines and lines of people I saw.

i was at the local Apple store 4 days ago and the place was packed and i watched 3 iMacs and 7 notebooks and a mini leave in just over an hour. i mentioned MWSF to an employee and he laughed and said most people didn't know about it. they are not having ANY trouble selling stuff in the run up.
yeah, people who hit these forums are not buying, but everyone else is going to town and laying their cards down. look at estimates for Apples sales over the holiday! :D

don't know about iphoto, but no merge in aperture, or LR for that matter. you could perhaps use a publish setting such as book layout options to get the effect you want, but sounds like a better task for photoshop. if you want something free, photoshop elements.

I wasn't expecting any...the ibooks and the powerbooks are the only expected update and they have rebates until the 25th...look for new laptops then...maybe the 26th
