In the EB base, only 1 GC is counted for all family members. How can it count more than one if it is a derivative of an employment visa? It might count against the Family base even though primary applicant is EB-based. Not the other way around.
If they dont count Dependents we all get GCs very soon . Unfortunately all dependents even kids are counted under employement category ..
One change - Counting a number for primary applicant can change thousands of lifes each year .

It seems like different people have different experiences with different kinds of insurances. So it is almost clear that these insurance can act good or bad case by case basis depending upon their policies.

a small procedure done on this toe. He developed because of injury as he is diabetic.
And after reading so many negative reviews i was afraid whether i will get my 1200$ claim accepted or not. As i thought diabetes is a pre-existing condition.
And we also mentioned it in the insurance policy when we took.
But surprisingly we got the claim approved by ICICI Lombard last week and we got all the money (minus 100$ deductible).
So it's better to have some kind of insurance (to be on safe side) if you think the patriot and KV Rao are expensive.

I didn't meant to hurt feelings here. and i know how Canada is less opportunity for IT folks. but just couple more points.
1) if number of jobs was criterion, India has far higher number of jobs in IT then US, so people should be rushing bk to India which is not the case. I don't think number of Jobs available in US is why people wanna live here. Even if it takes year or a little more, at least Canadians are transparent about the process.
2) I know everyone here is well read and well educated. Read up about AUS, NZ, Canada and few other countries which have point bases system, they are not under developed or backward in any way. Wikipedia might help.
And please read carefully, my wife is on another beauty of a status called H4B, i mentioned clearly i know how easily people got their H1B's through consultants.

Paid membership irrespective of the amount of payment will drive away the people. With all dues respect to IV, there are defintely other places where you can get good(if not better) information for free.
Strength of online communities is always the members...the higher the members the better.
Having said that, I kind of disagree with the punishing the wrong answers with a $5.00...most of the answers in these forums are people experiences and they are not legal professionals. People will not be able to share the experiences openly/freely. I think, it's the responsibility of the questioner to pick the right answer and donate for the value that he/she deems the question is worth.
My thoughts...anyways..

not sure how to do this. can some one in this thread create a poll just for eb3-India just to see a ball park number of people waiting in eb3 india and for how long they are waiting (may be we can start from jan 2001 all the way till jun 2008). This atleast would give us an idea of how many IVers are waiting in eb3 queue..pls discard if you did not like this idea. thanks.

Thank you for the reply. When you say that if I go with Company A that there will be more scrutiny, do you mean they will check the vailidity of the offer and their ability to pay? I work for a Govt. Agency(Company C), they will give me an EVL but I am not sure if they will specify "in accordance with I140". I am actually doing the same job, same place, before as a contractor(Company A) and now as an Employee(Company C).
Either way is fine. Is company A willing to hire you, and you intend to join them when GC comes through? If so, send that letter. There might be alittle bit more scrutiny that way.
If you intend to stick with company C in the future, you can send the EVL of C and include a letter explanining you invoked AC21.
Its not an issue that your H1 transfer to C occured before the 485 filed by A. Once its past 180 days, you are free to work whereever you wish.

But from what I understand, a lot of people still don't know about IV and we must make more attempts to spread the word. Many people just don't know or understand the concept of IV. When we want them to join, the get suspecious and cautious and stay away. The idea here is to reach more and more people. IV is better organized now than what it was before and as people start to realise, they will come forward. Remember, IV is a concept and a platform andwill always stay. people may come and go - there will always be people motivated at different levels.

I have tried to put my career goals ahead of the dollar conversion rate (not always easy). Because i took up new roles and salary , i have had to restart the GC process a couple of times. As a result i am still without GC despite being here for more than 10 years and having two masters degrees from US. I am sure this is a common story here.
I am heading towards a another change and now have very little patience for restarting the process. I am glad many people on this forum have voluntered to help pack. I will be getting in touch with you in a few months.

akred, Thank you for helping to promote this petition. I think that when we have enough signatures we must also release this letter in parallel to media outlets while we send it to CNN execs. This will make the folks at CNN more answerable to this petition. However in order to do this we require the backing of IV core and utilize their contacts with the media. An individual like you and me can only go so far. Backing of IV core will provide us with maximum traction to evince response from CNN.

Stronger support from our members, will definitely help us push this agenda item. IV feels that this issue is going to be a big roadblock for a lot of us now, after people have filed their I485s. It is possible to get a much wider bi-partisan support on this issue by us and we are already pursuing it.
