As most of you know, Sen. Grassley has of late been advocating bills against the immigrant community. According to wikipedia, his approval rating is at 50% last year. He is up for re-election this year and his Democratic opponent is quite strong. If the Tea Party can help Republicans, so can we help the democratic candidate.

I wouldn't worry about this.. this bill is in embyonic stage, hundreds of such ridiculous bills are persented each years and they never make it to either house or senate floors for voting. Remember US politicians all the time "propose" or "talk about" such crazy bills to make happy the crazy segment of voters in their constituency and to make a buzz in the media. This is nothing more than Rakhi sawant accusing Mika of kissing. Nothing is going to happen without the full fledge CIR. Anyone believes the country which gives amnesty to illegals every 10-15 years will take such a nasty step and hurt itself ? I am quite sure you by this time know that "the security clearnce" has become the most secretive processes in the GC process. You were right when you have mentioned people would like to get to the next process. Yes, I was of the opinion that the labour clearance was the only hurdle in the GC process. When my I-485 was current and my case was not cleared than I realized how serious the "security clearance process" was. Interestingly many people have been stuck in the process. (Please take a look at the link I have posted.) None of the people could successfully find a way out. Comparing the "Name check process" as a "case to case" process is bit a "over-statement". In the cases you have mentioned, atleast you have an option to contact USCIS. USCIS has an obligation to respond with in a specified time period. But in case of "Name Check process" as you might have already found , one may not expect a response from FBI. Its plain and simple. I may provide some information that could clarify their doubts or atleas can provide them to check certain facts to check the veracity

Please just dont worry about it too much , there are also chances that you may not get an RFE. There are chances that you may get an RFE but you dont know what USCIS will ask from you. You need to have RFE in hand to prepare response for that.

I know I acted irresponsibly. Under the circumstances I had to. The person employing me was trying to use me for (something) for which my conscience didnt allow. So the decision to quit was best. I can't write all the circumstances here. I knew I could get into problems with immigration department for my irrational yet moral decision to quit company before 180 days. I think this problem with USCIS is far more acceptable than doing something for your employer that your heart doesnt allow you to.
Of course, you know your problems best, but it was obviously irresponsible of you to quit before letting 180 days pass after applying for 485.
Here is the problem. The letter of employment you send to CIS must have a start date which will expose your violation of the 180 day rule. So unless you lie here, you are likely in in trouble. Your best bet is to suck it up and return to your sponsoring employer. That will ensure your case 100%. Any other option is risky.
Go to a knowledged attorney. Khanna, Murthy, Gotcher etc., are the names I know.

If there is a non-controversial immi. law change attempt I will donate $500. I will also bring my friends and the total may exceed $2000. We all willing to donate but only if we know that there is good chance of passing.
If there is an attempt to push ideas like recapture, forget it. It will not pass in this economy. I do not want to waste my money and time on those kind of ideas.

The difference is with ceiling of 7% USCIS can allocate lower number than 7% of 28.6% of 140,000 to EB3 India. If it would be 7% quota, then it would be fair to ask for our "right" for another 580 more green cards. That's why this is not real information, its Faux news.

Anyway we should close this issue.. I do find tawlibann's posts decent and non-offensive.. Only thing is we need to practice some respect to the communitity when chosing a handle... Its just not this.. there could be potentially other offensive handles.. So I'd say there should be a step/check in registration process to monitor/regulate handles... You won't like any handle offending your religious beliefs, dis-respecting your nation or humanity itself...

this bill would allow to adjust status to GC, if you lived for the last 5 years continuously except for casual absence. It does not eliminate H1B, but makes it tougher at advertisement stage for EB.
Where did you read that "except for casual absence". Because that might make it go or nogo for many people.
There would be many people who might have gone outside US to India or so for a month or so for maybe twice in last 5 years. Will that count as casual absence and forgiven ?
eg. my wife will be in US for 5 years in August'09, but she has been to India atleast twice for 2 months and 1 month respectively during these 5 years.

All these companies take people on H1 and after an year of year an half they say they have changed policy and they can't file H1. They have big lawyers like M**** and R**** and those lawyers tell employers even if your employee is on 5th year and if you don't file GC (PERM) b4 365 days its alright.... we can send them out and re catpture time and all BS and ultimately employees suffer.... as they r in their 5th or some are in 6th year and are completely screwed up.
We should think of taking some legal actions...
