Guess you met your match huh?? |
Remember that YouTube video that went viral of the bully standing up to the little kid with Napolean Syndrome? Well he's speaking out and he doesn't sound very remorseful, in fact, little Richard Gale is defending his actions claiming he was bullied too. The way that Richard got acquainted with that ground I doubt he will ever pick on someone bigger than him ever AGAIN! Casey made everyone GASP, Richard's attempt to get up was futile as his legs seemed to forget their function - STAGGERLY.
I am in no way condoning or encouraging violence at all, because Casey could have seriously hurt Richard. In this situation Richard and Casey were wrong and should have realized that if you are bullied you report it to a teacher/principal/parent. The Bystander Effect was so real in this video and it is a common occurrence in bullying situations. Kids stood around cheering, hooting and howling and even recording the video which they intended to 'cyber'. I can not sit here and admonish Casey for fighting back, yes he is 16 but he was provoked. The victim becoming the bully scenario (reverse bullyism where the bullied becomes a quasi-bully) only works in the movies, in many cases, people attack when provoked. If Richard was indeed bullied or picked on, he unfortunately learned this the hard way (ALL PUN INTENDED).
Schools need to take a bigger stance in acting as allies for children that are being bullied. Time after time it is being reported that when children do inform their parents the schools do nothing and the bullying continues until sometimes a child commits suicide or worse a situation like Columbine. This video was a real eye-opener and I hope you looked past the novelty and thought about the real implications for people like Richard and Casey around the world.
