Coming in from the parental hater camp is journalist Steve Blow. In his article "With tattoos taboo for many employers, they're not worth the pain", he describes tattoos as "trashy" and goes on to describe the different ways in which the owner of one may hinder their future chances of getting certain jobs, due to their permanent, and very visible ink. His final line "think before you ink" is definitely one many people don't do before getting tattoos, and thus has lead to laser tattoo removal companies to find a rise in their business.
While Blow's argument is certainly valid, as many people clearly do not put much thought into their tattoo choice(s) (see above tattoos: shark armpit, fried eggs on head, Britney Spears, Unicorns having sex), a large majority of people who dish out large amounts of money choose tattoos which have meaning to them, and can truly be considered art. While some companies have difficulty accepting body art, many modern organizations have become more lax, do to their growing acceptance and the ability many people have to hide their tattoos.
On the flip side is the young tattoo haters, who have formed group on facebook, the ultimate social tool for many 21st century youth. Said group calls upon God for their dislike of tattoos, citing Leviticus 19:28
This Bible passage clearly states "you shall not make any cuts in your cody for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the Lord". Well the Lord definitely did not beat around the bush with this one.
The "I HATE TATTOOS" Facebook group is strictly against tattoos, along with any other form of marking your body (i.e piercings, mutilations etc.). This group goes on to claim that "tattoos are marks of satin". They also go on in a note saying... :
In the most outrageous online notes, this group has generalized all people with tattoos as prostitutes, homosexuals, goth, gangsters, and punks.
In this case, the people against tattoos stand behind the word of the lord in its literal meaning, and attempt to verbally reprimand those who have gone against their beliefs.
Below is a video that was posted on the groups page, a sermon on "the mark of the beast"
When it comes to every topic there are always different viewpoints. What's important to keep in mind is that all opinions are valid, whether one agrees with the other or not.
