I've just got all the info for setting up conference call and meeting with the lawmakers "info" kit.
Once I've digested the contents of both, I'll be setting up a call, probably early next week. Here is the IV lawmaker kit http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=53&Itemid=36

hmmm....cannot say in my case i had all the paystubs for the months before i resigned...it was only i left i didnt got the 2 paystubs though for 1 salary was paid and even bank statement is reflecting that and my employer confirmed by sending a mail......
It is a serious breach of not giving paystub bit kind of chicken egg problem becoz if u complain ot DOL tey ara for certin going to tear him off but he has liberty of cancelling you r visa.....
I know a ldy who was harrases in this manner , she wrote to DOL...and action was very promt.....and after few months she left those guys....

I am from Africa..my Priority date is 9-2004 - Labor, and I 140 approved. havent filed the 485 yet - But i guess I will....So my question was if i get married like in Dec or so...can i apply for the GC for my wife...Thanks! Cheers..Just joined today.....this site rocks!

I don't think he is here to be tried in public by idiots like you. Why is this site full of self righteous punks who reply back to put others down. I saw similar set of replies for a woman who sought help regarding her status for entering the country without passport from Canada (which was legal pre 9/11) and then divorcing the dude she was married to. Some righteous pricks called her names and gave red dots generously.
Seriously if you don't have constructive advise just keep your mouth shut. Nobody needs you to bring your vigilantism and judgement ion other people. A few too many pricks are the reason a lot of us get turned off of this site.

They'll probably start with what Senate passes. and make some minor amendments.
If it passes the house, conference will be piece of cake.
Our best hope is:
1. When senators return to the constituencies for the memorial day recess, they receive a LOT of negative feedback about CIR and enough number of senators change their minds and vote in -ve and bill fails to make out of the Senate. Likelihood: 10-20%.
2. House of reps votes on this CIR and defeats it. Likelihood: 40-60%.
I hope one way or another, this piece of crap fails and I happily get my GC in another 5-10 years. If it passes, I'll have to pack my bags. Amen.

$1000 is a lot for Premium Processing and VSC is profiting a lot from this. They are running a business for sure....
Its only extensions which are a long time.
USCIS is self-funded from application fees. They don't get any other funding as far as I know. So, sure they are running a business.
I know its not cheap, but atleast there is a way. I have been in this long enough to know times when it took a long time without an option of premium processing.
You can always make your employer pay for the fees.

When the US govt is ignoring the problems of legal immigration and making it harder and harder to immigrate (especially when the interest of foreign nationals to come here has subsided with unprecedented growth in their native country...) it is foolish to expect to lure skilled people to this country any more

I don't think they are even trying to get skilled immigrants anymore, but just temporarily get many people in their 20s to mid 30s. Hiring drops drastically after mid/late 40s here anyway. I guess the logic is also that anyone can be trained locally to become a skilled worker (hopefully)

I guess it depends on what they feel is more important and makes them feel gooood, happy.

Wow...that's a nice story...in a way its sad that somebody has to wait for long for no apparent/valid reason, on the other hand its nice to know that his latest efforts succeeded at the end.
This shows (if there are any doubts) how bad is the administrative efficiency of USCIS. There might be several more cases where people are just waiting. Thanks to IV for working on a few administrative efforts recently - but examples like this show how much more to be done.
On a side note: if this is an IV member, first of all congratulations and secondly please consider giving your details to IV core so that they may use quoting your case in arguing for better administrative changes at USCIS.

Just in-case one gets layed-off and has an EAD, can that person buy a 7-Eleven or a Gas Station?
Can the EAD holder actually run the gas station/7-eleven by working/being present there? (Maybe he/she can work there and take all the profit but no salary).
What happens if there is an RFE asking for proof of employment during this period?
Can you not think anything other than a gas station or seven eeleven ? Come on guys think out side the box. I don't have a great idea to suggest you to begin with but I know gas station and grocery stores are very typical desi ideas

My H1 is approved on Oct 23, 2006. I was on F1. Before my OPT grace period expired on July 20, 2006, I enrolled in a school with new I-20 on July 5th, 2006. I have been taking one class every month for last three months to maintain full time status. If I stop taking classes now, would it be a some kind of problem when I go for visa stamping?
if possible try to complete the course or take CPT ...As of now you are in legal status only but if you dont complete your course..you may have some tough questions to answer when you go for visa stamping.. also try to search in murthy..you will have lot more information.

You have only 2 options:
Either postpone your vacations or get new visa stamping on your passport.
If opting for new visa stamping on your passport then mentally prepared to stay for a bit longer time if in case.
Better ask your attorney, I believe he will suggest you the same.
