Cloud 10 Status: MLK Had A Dream... So Did Lauryn Hill
Wow I want to say thank you to Angel over at Concreteloop.com for sharing this little nugget with us today. On this MLK observance day it is kind of refreshing to look back on a young, bushy-tailed Lauryn Hill in 2000 giving a message of encouragement and hope to a group of high school students.
Many would argue that this was the Lauryn that they would fight and kill to see make a triumphant return. It is clear that this is the Lauryn at the peak of her success, the Lauryn whom at 25 had an entire industry at her beck and call. Shortly after this we began to see the unraveling of Lauryn as she struggled to cope with the industry and pressures of success. Lauryn's back no and doing some touring now but many are uncertain as to whether we will ever see this L-Boogie again...
Check it out anyway though the speech is eloquent and very uplifting, littered with anecdotes and little profound gems this is definitely one with a message!! In a time when we as a people are struggling to find an identity and our place in the world let's reflect back on 2000 when we still got a message from the artists we admire.
